I realize that counties in Connecticut don’t really mean anything, but I must admit my slight surprise in learning Shelton was in Fairfield County. I don’t know what I was slightly surprised. But I was.

Also, I’ve come to learn that most of the trailed properties in Shelton are owned and overseen by the town itself. For the local land trust seems to have a hundred parcels, but almost all of them are tiny and untrampled.

It matters not to me; the star of the Shelton hiking show is the CFPA’s Paugussett Trail, which travels through much of those town lands I’ve mentioned. But the land trust does have two properties for me to visit, so visit them I shall.
