Stitches
No hike, Wallingford Land Trust
January 16, 2015
Perhaps the fine Wallingford Land Trust volunteers will clear these trails in the spring. But from the look of what we found in mid-January, this place hasn’t been cleaned up for a couple of years. There was no hiking at Three Meadows on this day, or any day in recent memory. Had we tried to walk just ten feet of trail, we’d have all ended up with stitches from the walls of multiflora rose, among other invasives. So, here’s Shawn Mendes’s “Stitches” with some pictures.
Don’t hike this hike… unless they clean it up, of course. Here’s what this place apparently used to look like.)
I thought that I’d been hurt before
But no one’s ever left me quite this sore
Your words cut deeper than a knife
Now I need someone to breathe me back to life
Got a feeling that I’m going under
But I know that I’ll make it out alive
If I quit calling you my lover
Move on
You watch me bleed until I can’t breathe
Shaking, falling onto my knees
And now that I’m without your kisses
I’ll be needing stitches
Tripping over myself
Aching, begging you to come help
And now that I’m without your kisses
I’ll be needing stitches
Just like a moth drawn to a flame
Oh, you lured me in, I couldn’t sense the pain
Your bitter heart cold to the touch
Now I’m gonna reap what I sow
I’m left seeing red on my own
Got a feeling that I’m going under
But I know that I’ll make it out alive
If I quit calling you my lover
Move on
You watch me bleed until I can’t breathe
Shaking, falling onto my knees
And now that I’m without your kisses
I’ll be needing stitches
Tripping over myself,
Aching, begging you to come help
And now that I’m without your kisses
I’ll be needing stitches
Needle and the thread,
Gotta get you out of my head
Needle and the thread,
Gonna wind up dead
Needle and the thread,
Gotta get you out of my head, get you out of my head
You watch me bleed until I can’t breathe
Shaking, falling onto my knees (falling on my knees)
And now that I’m without your kisses
I’ll be needing stitches (and I’ll be needing stitches)
Tripping over myself,
Aching, begging you to come help (begging, “Baby, please.”)
And now that I’m without your kisses
I’ll be needing stitches
I’m without your kisses
I’ll be needing stitches
(And now that)
I’m without your kisses
I’ll be needing stitches

March 25, 2016 at 4:54 pmIt is a shame that many Land Trusts & other organizations start out with great aims but the original volunteers lose interest & are not replaced by young blood. Take a hike & take some responsibility, join your local Land Trust or other hiking area responsible party. Clean up your local trail.

January 31, 2023 at 7:12 pmWe have recently been putting a lot of focus on this property. We have had help from students from Choate as well. So it is better but more work to do.
